PianoSoloPiano

I built this acoustic piano recital in two parts: The Composer as a Performer, where I go through the ensemble of my piano catalog alone, from Douze Mouvements to the recent Prelude 2018 in homage Debussy. I dedicate The Performer as a Composer to jazzy ballads and very varied improvisations.

Denis Levaillant

The Composer as a Performer

The piano is my source and continues to be, along with the orchestra, the driving force of my inspiration as a composer.
In this recital, I go through my entire catalog of works for solo piano, from Twelve Movements (1980) to the recent Prelude 2018 in homage to Claude Debussy.

Review

One might say that a piano performance by Denis Levaillant is, primarily, a pianist facing and relating to his instrument. We might add that, when performing “PianoSoloPiano”, he gives a show in every sense of the term, a show in which his physical involvement, its musical organic extension, takes us to a powerful emotional level.
